Welcome to the last week of October in Oklahoma and it's 87 degrees and fires everywhere! Last week I was blessed to take a trip to the mountains for a much needed break from the unseasonably warm weather and life. The last few months, let alone the last 10 years have been a bit of a dumpster fire lol! It all came to a head this summer and the getaway was much needed. The drive west was nice with the snowcapped mountains greeting us on our way in. The warm weather was with us in the mountains though, with only a couple of nights below freezing. Those nights were blessings for someone looking for the cold. The freeze. The stoppage of all things. The need for things to just halt.
With the dumpster fire, let's throw in menopause and single again at 51. Whoa Nelly! Life comes at you fast! So here we go. You guys know what I do. Turn into it, Sher. Turn into the adversity, the struggle. The best quote I found this week - "Rock - The best thing about rock bottom is the rock part. You discover the solid bit of you. The bit that can't be broken down further. The thing that you might sentimentally call a soul. At our lowest we find the solid ground of our foundation. And we can build ourselves anew."
Damn. Right between the eyes. Rock.
So here I go into the last week of October and I find myself at Rock rebuilding myself.
New.
As we slide into fall, (please baby Jesus bring some fall weather soon!) as the trees shed their leaves, may we shed the unnecessary weight we carry and see our souls on solid ground. The solid ground we can build the new, the better, the passion, the life we know will feed and grow our souls.
How are you doing this fall? Are you shedding your leaves or have you found what feeds your soul?
I would love to hear from you! New recipes, workouts, feels, all the things, you can share here at SHER.LIFE.
Until then, on to the next . . . . . .
Thank you DA
